Starling Murmuration - I Know All the Birds Screen Print - Psalm 50:11

An original hand-printed screen print of a starling murmuration against the setting sun. It’s A4 in size and printed directly from a hand-cut papercut.

Psalm 50:11 says “I know all the birds of the hills..” reminding us that God knows every single bird individually. I find this particularly encouraging when I look up at them in their thousands, swooping and dancing in mesmerising patterns as they come in to roost at dusk each Winter evening. There is purpose in them uniting together, yet not one of them is lost amongst the crowd; each one is known, and He knows each one of us intimately too.

This screen print was created as a reminder of this truth. Every single bird was hand-drawn and then individually hand-cut by myself with a scalpel, creating a papercut stencil that I then screen-printed from, lovingly hand-pulling each print onto thick 250gsm, acid-free, age-resistant, 50% cotton paper, with non-toxic, pigmented matt ink.

As every one is individually hand-made, there may be slight variations between them, making each piece unique and original. In the printing process it was also tricky to get perfect prints of every bird each time; sometimes a small portion of a wing was missing - but as I reflected on the similarities with our own lives, as we also often have areas of brokenness and weakness that we carry, I decided to embrace this. Whatever our story, and whatever afflictions or brokenness we face, God sees it all, and cares deeply, and we are always welcomed into His flock to join His people in praise of Him.

Each print is hand-signed and sent unframed, against mount board, packaged in a clear cellophane bag to protect it.

The exact colour may look slightly different depending on the colour calibration of your monitor, but it should be pretty close!
