Love - We love because He first loved us. (1John 4:19) 

This Truthlet® serves as an encouraging reminder for believers to call to mind the truth that we are to love others; our families, neighbours, and even strangers.  However, 1 John 4:19 reveals that we do not do this in our own strength, but because He, God, first loved us. The Lord first loved us in the greatest demonstration of love ever shown: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

As you wear this Truthlet®, may it bring to mind the many Scriptures that speak of God's love and His call for us to love others.  May it remind you of the fruit of the Spirit, the beautiful description of love in 1 Corinthians 13, and the wonderful truth that, “now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13).

The world defines love very differently from the way God defines it in His Word.  May we never become so influenced by the world's corrupted version of love that we compromise biblical truth.  Instead, may this Truthlet® remind you to love others truly, reflecting the perfect love demonstrated by Christ, whose love was not merely expressed in words but in action.  He loved us enough to not leave us in our sin, but to call us to repentance.  He demonstrated His love by living the perfect life we could never live, willingly dying the death we deserved, and rising victoriously over sin and death, so that all who trust in Him might be forgiven, made new, and receive the gift of eternal life.

In our own strength truly loving others would not be possible, but when we give our lives to Christ, He gives us His Holy Spirit, the Helper, who enables us to demonstrate this love; love that is – patient, kind, it does not envy or boast, it is not arrogant or rude.  Love that does not insist on its own way, it is not irritable or resentful, it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.  A love that bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
