Meet the Maker
I have loved the sea for as long as I can remember, and have never lived more than a few miles from its shores. I need the sea to breathe. I go there to slow down, to re-energise, to calm my mind, and to allow the creative part of me to, well, create! In 2018, when working in mental health in the NHS, I started making sea glass jewellery in my spare time, partly as a way to destress after the day's work. In 2020 I heeded God's call to come back to faith, and since then I have been more and more drawn to sharing my faith through my jewellery. I started to pair the glass with hand stamped silver and copper charms and crosses, highlighting the hope we find in God and His unending love for us. My love for the sea in all its moods, especially here on the wild north Devon coast where I live, now has so much more meaning as I see and feel in it all the work of our Creator. The sea glass I find is all naturally tumbled and minimally altered - I clean it, perhaps oil it, and drill tiny holes to attach it to the chains using hand wrapping. My hope and desire is that you too will find meaning in my pieces, whether they are for you or destined to be a gift for another.
