I’m Emma, illustrator and founder of Tanglewood Atelier: a full-service creative studio specialising in liturgical and Sacred art.

I’m passionate about using art and creativity to bring faith, stories and traditions to life. It truly fascinates me how art can open our eyes and illuminate something previously hidden to us. Art is not just a pretty embellishment, but a language helping us to understand the world around us. Sacred art, in its many forms, has been part of Christianity since the very beginning; it has a remarkable ability to draw us nearer to God, through His grace. Through the centuries, sacred and liturgical art has been used to form, educate and inspire people to look upwards to the Creator.

This is exactly the inspiration and idea behind Tanglewood Atelier: an atelier - a workshop of sorts - creating design-led gifts and resources that respect and add to our rich tradition of creative arts within the Christian faith.

I love the liturgical year for its grounding abilities: a time-tested rhythm of living out our faith, woven perfectly into the natural seasons. A lot of my illustrations revolve around this calendar and I encourage you to explore this way of expressing your faith if you’re new to it! My own Catholic faith informs many of my artwork and design choices, but my hope is that everyone can find something here that resonates with their own journey in faith.
