Meet the Maker
Our faith and creativity are at the heart of our little business. ‘Rock and Saltwater’ was established in 2017 – named ‘Rock’ for our creator God and ‘Saltwater’ for the sea, the source of much of our inspiration.
Our designs and products celebrate the beauty of God’s creation and especially the outdoor coastal lifestyle of Cornwall – we're surrounded by the sea, it's inspiration and influence! Our focus is on natural materials and producing products ethically, locally and with minimum waste and environmental impact.
Our products include notebooks, enamel pins and embroidered patches, cards, prints, bags, mugs, tea towels and laser etched illustrated wooden items. We have a growing number of small shops stocking our work, from Cornwall and Devon to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
We hand make the majority of our products and when we need specific print or technical expertise (for example screen printing for our bags and tea towels), we work with carefully selected makers and companies in Cornwall, the South West and other parts of the UK. Our fabrics are printed using eco-friendly reactive dyes and we use non-toxic, water-based inks when screen and lino-printing. Our packaging is made from natural, recycled and recyclable materials.
Our home based studio is a hive of creatively equipped with sewing machines, Apple Macs, an etching press and laser etching machine. Alongside our own illustrations and products, we also produce bespoke commissions of etched goods for businesses, charities and clubs – we've recently etched some really fun enamel mugs for a wild swimming group, an outdoor sauna and local artists.
