Meet the Maker
I am a Yorkshire based mixed media artist, who loves to explore big ideas through bold, abstract paintings. I approach themes of love, grief, faith, hope, fear, and more, communicating complex feelings and experiences through colour, pattern, and many, many layers of acrylic paint.
I have been a creative for many years, studying Pattern Design at university, and working across many mediums; collage, acrylics, murals, and textile design. I love arts and crafts, and believe that I was created by the Creator to create! For many years my art practice was a hobby whilst I had a 'real' job. However, having worked in the church and charity sectors for 10 years, I felt God call me to stop, step back from leadership and focus on my art and how it can bless others, so here I am!
The artwork that I create is often complex, bold and colourful, with depth and texture which invites the viewer to both look closely for the details and to step back for the impact! My abstract paintings are painted intuitively and prayerfully, with the hope that I can capture a glimpse of God's heart, and create something that will speak directly to the individual who views it, to bring hope, comfort and joy! I want my artwork to encourage people, and connect with them on a deeper level so that they feel seen and known. I will often use words and poetry alongside my art work, another layer of beauty and connection for the viewer, that helps them to engage with God's truth and love for them.
