Helen is the artist behind Nellie’s Art, a mixed media practice she founded in 2024. Based in Romsey, Hampshire, Helen creates expressive woodland and coastal scenes inspired by the natural beauty of the Test Valley, the New Forest, the South Coast and further afield to the Mediterranean.
Her technique blends creativity with sustainability, layering leftover tissue, patterned wrapping paper and magazine cuttings to form rich textures and depth. She then develops these bases with inks and acrylics, producing distinctive works often featuring quirky wildlife.
From this she produces prints and greetings cards, each with a bible verse to inspire and encourage.
Helen’s passion for art began in childhood, sketching birds and animals alongside her grandmother, an artist herself.
After studying graphic design at West Surrey College of Art and Design, she built a career in design but continues to explore her love of expressive, hands-on artmaking through Nellie’s Art.
