Meet the Maker
I'm an illustrator and artist, born and raised in the depths of Wiltshire and now living in Leeds. At the heart of my work is a belief that creativity is a form of worship - a way of helping others to look up and notice the beauty that surrounds us every day.
I aim to bring encouragement and hope into people's homes and everyday lives. My work celebrates the joy found in small moments: found objects, meaningful words, landscapes worth lingering in. My love of the outdoors inspires my bold, simple colour palettes, and texture is often central to my work.
In the interests of never losing the joy of creating, I often create with my left hand, even though I am naturally right handed. This helps me maintain a loose and expressive line, and stops me from taking myself too seriously. A sense of playfulness and spontaneity within my work aims to elevate the ordinary, and to remind us that beautiful things are everywhere, if we take the time to stop and look.
My creative output is split into two areas, in which I have worked for the past 13 years. My linocut work is quite graphic, and often features full verses or snippets of Scripture. My illustrative work is more loose and playful, and has a more expressive feel to it.
